A Davenport man was arrested Wednesday after Davenport PD say he ran from police. The man was found hiding from police in a child’s playhouse with a stolen gun.

According to KWQC, the Davenport Police Department responded at 11:21 a.m. to the 1300 block of Myrtle Street for a report of a man seated in a vehicle with a gun.

The man in the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Quame Surzion Bennett, ran from police when officers approached the vehicle. Bennett was found hiding In a child’s playhouse with a gun that Davenport police say was stolen in a residential burglary that happened in 2018 in Scott County.

KWQC reports that police say Bennett was convicted of felony marijuana charges back in 2017. He is also prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm or ammunition.

He was booked into the Scott County Jail at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, trafficking stolen weapons, and interference with official acts with a weapon. The charges against Bennett are all a Class D felony each punishable up to five years in prison.

Scott County Sheriff's Office online jail records say that Bennett is also facing charges of third-degree burglary and attempted third-degree burglary.
