The little league team from Davenport Southeast kept their dreams of going Williamsport, PA for the Little League World Series alive on Tuesday with their first win in the Midwest Regional held in Whitestown, IN.

DAVENPORT, IA 3 MINNESOTA 0-- THE RECAP

In a must win situation for Davenport, Manger David McFate and Coach Martin put Tanner Bitterman on the bump on Tuesday afternoon and the 12 year old delivered.

Bitterman held the Centennial Lakes baseball team to no hits while striking out 9 through 4 and 2/3 innings pitched.  Then, what would have been his last batter faced, due to the Little League rules of 85 maximum pitch count, he finally gave up a hit.

Tanner is such a great kid.  Happy for him today.  He located exactly where we we asked him to against their best hitters.  He was effectively wild at times but delivered big pitches when we needed it.

-COACH MARTIN

Sean Hendricks came in to relieve Bitterman and did not allow the representatives from Minnesota touch the plate.

Not to let his pitching be the only highlight of his day, Bitterman also went yard in the bottom of the 5th inning to extend the lead to 3-0.  Davenport had 8 hits on the day and committed zero errors in the field-- Alec Sullivan led all Davenport hitters with 2 hits.

The team looked so comfortable in the field and at the plate all day-- especially when they put the second run across the dish in the bottom of the third.

Our guys had complete confidence today.

DAVENPORT, IA VS FARGO, ND-- THE PREVIEW

Tomorrow on ESPN+, Davenport will fave North Dakota in another must win game for both teams.

North Dakota defeated Missouri 9-6 on Tuesday evening.  Despite giving up four runs in the top of the 4th inning, North Dakota put up 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning and took the lead for good in the 2nd inning.  Fargo belted out 15 hits but also committed 3 errors in the game.

Fargo has thrown 5 pitchers so far in 3 games and 3 of those 5 should be forced to rest if the little league rules for pitch count applies the same at Regionals as it does in regular season.  Unless Fargo has another starter on the roster, look for Skyler Burkhardt or Dylan Slaberg to start against Davenport.

Davenport will probably keep their lineup very similar to what has it has been the last w Regional games.  There were only a few adjustments to the batting order.

As far as who throws the first pitch for Davenport, we will all have to wait and see on Wednesday.  "We are going to have a coaches meeting tonight (Tuesday).  We will decide who we go with then."
