Demolition Begins On Hotel Davenport

If you have ever found yourself on the corner of East 53rd and Welcome way, then you have most likely seen the "Hotel Davenport." It seems as though today is the day that demolition is to begin on the hotel.

According to the Quad Cities times, the Davenport hotel has faced a number of fires, along with safety and health code violations. This has led to the call for its demolition.

Over that time the building has deteriorated and reached the point where city officials last fall issued notices to the owner stating the building needed to either be substantially rehabbed or demolished.
