It's been a trend that's been going on for a little while now. Starbucks employees across the country have been unionizing. Only one Starbucks location in Iowa successfully voted to organize and unionize, until recently.

This doesn't mean your coffee is going to change or you're going to get worse service, everything will stay the same for you. If you don't like unions but like Starbucks coffee, continue to just be a nice person in the drive-thru.

Right here in the Quad Cities is where the second Iowa Starbucks location voted yes to become a union. The store is amongst 5 Starbucks stores across the country that have voted yes to unionize in the month of May.

The X account, Starbucks Workers United, posted the news that employees at the Davenport location successfully unionized after the majority voted yes on May 14th, 2024.

WQAD reports that the vote and union drive at the Davenport Starbucks location on 53rd marks the second Starbucks union in Iowa. Back in May of 2023, workers at the Starbucks at 228 S Clinton St. in Iowa City voted to authorize their union.

Starbucks Workers United represents over 400 stores and 10,500 Starbucks employees. According to Union Plus, the pros to workers joining a union or unionizing is for an increase in wages, better working environments, and better benefits.
