The rail line from East Davenport to the Canadian Pacific main lines used to see a couple of trains a month. Now several trains a day traverse the line. This line which passes through the East Village runs through some of Davenport's busiest streets including Kimberly Road and 53rd Street.

Sterilite Corporation, the first tenant in the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center tells the Quad City Times they estimate moving 1,100 train cars along that route this year. That number is only expected to increase as more businesses join Sterilite in the industrial center.

Davenport has no recent studies examining how increased rail traffic will impact street traffic, however city officials are monitoring the situation, and will be for the foreseeable future. Have you been stopped by more trains on Kimberly Road or 53rd Street? Has the increased rail traffic impacted your life? Let us know in the comments!
