Eastern Iowa Police Call Out Social Media Trolls Who Deserve It
If you're looking for a New Year's resolution that would benefit the entire world, I have a perfect one for you.
I don't care what social media platform you're on or prefer because they are all trash. Facebook, X, Instagram, Snapchat, and FamersOnly.com (I'm just kidding about this one) are full of people who do nothing but troll and want to be harmful. You probably won't see this article because I mentioned these platforms by name, and their little spiders are going to suppress this story.
If you are reading this, I want to give you a perfect example of why social media isn't social anymore and just a place of crappy people being crappy.
Recently, the Davenport Police Department shared this post debunking a fake post about the department's toy drive over the weekend that normally helps so many kids and families in the Quad Cities:
The Davenport PD's 22nd annual Toy Drive, which collects toys and money for kids and families was labeled as them busting a child trafficking operation. Who in their right mind thinks that is okay to spread?!
Clearly that's not what was happening. Sure, the Davenport Police haven't had the best year but to try and compromise a Toy Drive for people who really need it this time of year is just sick.
So, if you're looking for a resolution for 2025, let me give you two that we all should partake in:
- Don't create false information to be shared on social media
- Stop spreading false information from these "Digital Creators" that are just dipsticks with nothing else to do
As a bonus resolution, be that person who reports false information on social media. Thanks.
