If you were to come across a fake $100 bill, would you be able to tell it wasn't legit? I'm not sure that I could. It's scary how easy it can be to pass off fake money as the real thing, and now the problem is hitting close to home.

Week.com says that fake currency is making its way around Central Illinois. Luckily, some of the bills have been easy to identify as counterfeit, since they've been marked with "For motion picture use only" and Chinese characters. Still, not every cashier is diligent about checking for watermarks and other indicators, especially if they haven't been trained properly.

Although there have been no reports of fakes circulating in the QC yet, it's possible the same problem could affect our area. Always be on the lookout.
