The only thing better than a great movie is a free great movie, and that's what this event has for you. To make matters even better it starts today!

This event is perfect for anyone who has a love of film. The Bettendorf Public Library is celebrating storytelling through the art of film with it's new Monday Movie of the Month series. It kicks off today, January 13th, all are invited to the Library to view a film at 6:00 PM. Future film showings will be held on the second Monday of each month at the same time through June 2020.

Monday Movie of the Month showings are free and do not require registration. All ages are welcome, but you may wanted to check what movie is being shown before you bring a younger one. This event will go on rain or shine.

The first genre is the musical, and this month they will be watching Vincente Minnelli's 1944 classic 'Meet Me in St. Louis' starring Judy Garland. known for it's iconic songs written for the film that have become standards, including "The Trolley Song" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

The movie series will explore several tried-and-true film genres through pairings of classic and modern films. Genres explored in the six-month series will include musicals, westerns and noir. It's a chance for movie buffs to truly get to enjoy the beauty of film with others who love it.

This free event is again held at the Bettendorf Public Library, located at 2950 Learning Campus Drive in Bettendorf, you can check out each months title by clicking here.
