Fishing is great summer activity to do with the family. With the Mississippi River flowing in the middle of the Quad Cities along with the many ponds and lakes in the area, catching fish should be a pretty eventful activity. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley want you to do some fishing to help raise money for the organization and to win prizes at the same time.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley is wanting families to get out and do some fishing this month while raising money for the organization. They are hosting an event called "Get Hooked Fishing Derby".

According to their flyer (shown below) Get Hooked is a hybrid fishing derby that lets you catch fish to win some cool prizes. If you're asking yourself "what is a hybrid event?", the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley is here to explain.

This hybrid fishing derby allows you to pick your fishing location. Think of a spot along the Mississippi River, your favorite pond, or lake, and get ready to cast your line.

All you need to do to win prizes during Get Hooked are:

  • Go fish
  • Take a picture of your catch
  • Send that picture to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley via social media or email
  • You're eligible to win a prize!

Get Hooked is taking place on Saturday, August 6th. The fishing begins at 7 a.m.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley is trying to raise money with Get Hooked to continue to do the great work they always do to provide the youth and teens they serve with the tools that they need to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
