Earlier this year, it was announced that as of January 1, 2020, marijuana would be legal in the state of Illinois. There are, of course, limitations as to much a person can possess and at what age, but the new law covers quite a bit.

Now, according to KWQC, groups in Davenport are pushing for the decriminalization of marijuana on their side of the river. Per KWQC, "the group wants Davenport city leaders to make enforcement a low priority when the Illinois change begins."

There is a group on Facebook, currently at 367 members, which was spun off the page "Decriminalize Davenport," which has garnered more than 1,100 likes as of writing this.

So far, no official change has been announced in regards to Iowa's treatment of marijuana possession in the state. But there is still three months until 2020; a lot can happen between now and then.

We'll keep you posted on any changes that occur. In the meantime, what do you think? Should Davenport decriminalize marijuana?
