If you're wishing for fall weather, we've got some bad news for you.

The Quad Cities won't be cooling down any time soon, reports Local News 4.

Highs on Wednesday will climb into the upper 80's with heat indexes in the 90's. A cold front will come through on Thursday, but won't last long. Temps in the 80's will return by the weekend and continue through all next week.

In case you're wondering, average temps for this time of year top out around 78-80, so these highs aren't too far above average. Considering some of the cooler weather we've experienced recently, however, this heatwave does feel pretty jarring.

So when exactly will things finally cool off and feel fall-like? According to The Weather Channel, by the week of September 22 (aka when fall officially begins), our highs will be back in the low 70's again. Enjoy the next couple of weeks of shorts weather before sweater weather arrives!
