Bix 7 2024 is in the books.

We certainly had fun at the Bix this weekend. Granted, all we did was cheer you runners on and give you beer but hey, that's our life skill.

Bix 7 2024

The Bix is a hard 7 miles to run, starting with the infamous Brady Street hill. I would do good to walk it, let alone run it. Thankfully, for folks who really get worn out, there are medics along the course ready to help if they have to.

Over 16,000 people participated in the Bix this year. That's a lot. But it was the Bix's 50th birthday!

According to WHBF, there was a huge decrease in medical attention calls this year for the Bix 7.

Let's look at 3 years ago. In 2021, medics responded to 23 dispatches on the race course and 10 runners were taken to hospitals.

This year, the Genesis Medical Tent treated 19 runners and 3 non-runners. But only one was taken to the Genesis ER.

Ed Motto, MD, Medical Tent Director, told the outlet:

Cooler temperatures and overcast skies helped reduce the number of people needing care. All of our volunteers did a fantastic job today. From our doctors, nurses and LPNs to the team members who handle the logistics, security and materials, we are a well-oiled machine and love what we do. I am grateful for having such a great team of professionals who take the time to come out and participate in the Genesis Medical Tent every year.

Meanwhile, the 51st running of the Bix 7 will be coming around next year, on July 26th, 2025.
