Sometimes weddings don't totally go according to plan.

Mexico is a popular wedding destination and there's no doubt a shelter-in-place order has thrown a wrench into several plans.

The shelter-in-place went into effect at the end of February, after a major cartel leader was killed and impacted the popular tourist towns of Puerto Vallarta, Chapala and Guadalajara, along with the states of Tamaulipas, Michoacan, Guerrero and Nuevo Leon.

One couple affected was Kaity and Robbie Morris of Chicago. They were planning what sounds like a lovely 3-day destination wedding in Guadalajara. But after the shelter-in-place warning, the couple decided it would be best to get married right in Chicago.

Luckily, they were able to pull together a beautiful wedding last-minute with the help of people on social media. But now, they still have bookings and reservations for Guadalajara. So they decided to give those away on Instagram.

The couple did make it down to Mexico for their honeymoon.

Their venue is Finca by Alofa in Guadalajara is "a hacienda steeped in history and deeply rooted in its heritage".

The shelter-in-place order from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico is still in effect. They encourage Americans to avoid areas of law enforcement activity, be aware of your surroundings, seek shelter and minimize unnecessary movement, monitor local media for updates, avoid directions of local authorities, call 911 if you have to, avoid crowds, and keep your family and friends updated on where you're at and how you're doing.
