Pretty sure this was trending before trending was a thing.

It seems kind of early in the calendar year for these kinds of games but here we are. After a 2024 incident in Glencoe and another in Gurnee, police in Villa Park are now the latest to warn about teens playing the game 'Senior Assassin' in residential neighborhoods.

If you read that like 'senior assassin over the age of 65', I'm with you. But the game is often played by high school students ahead of graduation. They arrange times to meet somewhere and chase each other around with water or NERF-style guns.

The warning from Villa Park PD comes out of concern for the game involving running, hiding, and chasing, as it could "cause confusion and create potentially dangerous situations".

Police clarify the game isn't illegal. Which is great news for those of us who pelted our siblings and family with NERF guns.

Since the game is generally played before graduation, it's about time for the warnings from local police departments to come out. In spring 2024, part of the trend was for players to wear ski masks to confuse their opponents. The Gurnee incident happened with waterguns in a busy restaurant and an adult who had a concealed carry permit, almost mistook the situation for a real threat.

Villa Park police say there is no threat to the public at this time. But if you see a group of teens running around, this is probably why, but call 911 if you think there's actual issues.

top 10 best movies about football

Football movies work because the game is a perfect pressure cooker for drama. Whether it’s a coach trying to hold a locker room together or an underdog fighting for a single play on the field, these stories usually end up being about way more than just what happens between the whistles. They’re about ego, community, and those "get up off the dirt" moments we all wish we had in real life.
