Illinois Dad Shares The One Father’s Day Gift Dads Want, Dads Everywhere Agree

Maybe it's not as difficult as you think.

What do you think of when you think of a Father's Day gift? Leather wallets, boxers, ties, #1 Dad mug, etc.

Now, Chicago-based comedian T. Murph is getting traction for sharing the one gift dads really want for Father's Day and he's getting a lot of dads agreeing with him. T. Murph and his wife Chrissi have 5 kids, ranging in age from 4 to 20.

His Father's Day advice is funny, because it's true. He tells TODAY that he meant every word.

T. Murph argues that men's ideal Father's Day is being left alone to relax, free from the kids, or to spend time with friends. He says he prefers to play video games and not be taken to a restaurant he has never shown any interest in trying. He says to set aside the feeling of weirdness about not watching dad open gifts on Father's Day:

We’re conditioned to expect very little in the way of gifts. Moms though, they are are held to the highest standard. The kids know if they don’t show up for Mom, they’re in trouble. My daughter? She bought me a Christmas gift, but it got canceled. Did she reorder it? No she did not. But hey it's the thought that counts!

T. Murph's video comes less than 2 months after a viral Mother's Day gift theory that many moms agreed with, arguing that a Mother's Day present should not be: something to clean with, something to decorate with, or something to keep maintenance of the house with.
