Is TSA relaxing a bit?

Part of the absolute delight of flying is getting yourself, your family, and everyone's stuff through TSA. I'm always unnecessarily nervous walking through the scanner like "wait did I shove a bomb up my butt?"

Now, the TSA is allowing for a few new things to come through the security checkpoint but...for now it's only if you're flying out of Atlanta, JFK, or LAX. But the plan is to expand allowing liquids to other airports.

This all comes as there's a new computed tomography (CT) thing in their scanners that can analyze the contents in the bottles. So your full-size water bottle might one day be allowed back in your carry-on. But the aforementioned 3 busy airports will be the ones to get the cool tech first.

Will this make security lines shorter? Doubt it. Should you toss your travel-size containers? No. International airports are still catching up, plus it's likely this won't be widespread enough by this summer for your family vacation. But it's on the horizon. If things work well with the tech and expanding airports that it's in, things like shampoo, perfume, body wash, and sunscreen could be allowed in carry-ons.

Rejoice, all of us who overpack suitcases.

Meanwhile, if you're trying to figure out what you can stuff in the carry-on at this point, check TSA's website or you can text questions to AskTSA (275-872).

And really, there are some things on the list of 11 new permissible checkpoint items that are Grade A Random.

U.S. Government's Level 4 Do Not Travel List

Many people travel at the end of the year for the holidays or to use up vacation days that may expire. These countries have a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory issued on them by the U.S. Government and should be avoided.
