Illinois’ Largest Waterpark Opens For The Season This Weekend
Time to get on the water slides!
Summer is finally here, which means we're planning our road trips and weekend getaways and nothing says summer quite like taking the kids to a waterpark. This weekend, on June 1st, Illinois' biggest waterpark will open it's doors for the summer 2024 season.
Raging Waves Waterpark in Yorkville will open on Saturday and stay open through September 2nd, according to NBC Chicago. It's a 58-acre waterpark, with more than 32 waterslides, a lazy river, a wave pool, and more waterpark attractions.
Tickets to Raging Waves start at $29.99. Costs for parking vary. They also have private cabana rentals. For this season, the waterpark has transitioned to 100% cashless.
Raging Waves opened in 2008, with 17 waterslides at the time. They have since added on more slides, attractions, cabanas, and dining options.

Also Opening This Weekend
We're on no shortage of waterparks to visit these days. Several of them are close-ish without too much of a drive. Hurricane Harbor, located at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, will also open for the season on Saturday. lt's 20 acres and features the world's tallest water coaster, named Tsunami Surge.
Of course, you also have plenty of waterpark options in the Dells. Over Memorial Day weekend, America's tallest waterslide opened for the first time in the Wisconsin Dells. It is called The Rise Of Icarus and is 145 ft. tall. It is located at Mt. Olympus Resorts & Parks.
