A new study revealed that Illinois has the 5th-highest lottery earnings over the past decade and the amount will shock you.

Information from this study comes from Legal US Poker Sites, which wanted to discover which states in America have won the most money from the lottery. To do so, Legal US Poker Sites found every jackpot win in the past 10 years using the Powerball and MegaMillions websites, listing which state in America the winners were from.

After compiling all of that data, they found out that Illinois has raked in the 5th-highest amount of cash by winning the lottery.

But how much has Illinois won in the past 10 years? $2,998,000,000. Yeah, that's almost $3 billion.

If you live in Iowa or Wisconsin, don't think you haven't won your fair share.

Wisconsin lottery players have won $1,699,200,000 in the past 10 years putting them in the top 10 winningest state.

Iowa ranks as the state with the 23rd-highest lottery earnings capturing $687,800,000 in the last decade.
