Less than 2 years after undergoing a name change and rebrand, a restaurant in Moline, Illinois has closed its doors forever without any warning at all.

On Tuesday, owners of Catfish Charlies's at 4801 River Dr. in Moline announced via social media, "I am sorry to say that Catfish Charlie's Moline has closed down for good. I want to thank everyone that has come to see us and support the business."

Catfish Charlie's in Moline was the home of the former restaurant, The Captain's Table. In February 2023, General Manager Charlie Cretsinger told KWQC that the restaurant would change the name to Catfish Charlie’s. The name, menu, and culture change was done to make it a second location of the original restaurant of the same name Cretsinger operates in Dubuque.

Back in 2018 when the restaurant was still named The Captain's Table, a massive fire broke out which destroyed the building. KWQC reports that fire crews received the call around 10:44 p.m. on Jan 15, 2018. When firefighter arrived, the building at 4801 River Dr. in Moline was completely engulfed in flames and The Captain's Table was declared a total loss.

The Captain's Table reopened in August of 2020. The restaurant originally was scheduled to open in July of 2020, according to OurQuadCities.com, but the COVID-19 pandemic did its thing and delayed that opening.

For now, the restaurant at 4801 River Dr. in Moline, Ill. is now empty. Catfish Charlie's only has one location and that's in Dubuque with very similar features as the former location in Moline.
