Get ready Iowa, some businesses will be back to full capacity, if they choose to, this Friday starting at 8 a.m. This news comes after Governor Reynolds' announcement on Wednesday.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced on Wednesday, that the capacity limit, currently at 50% for Iowa businesses, will be lifted at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 12th. This means that bars, theaters, restaurants, and many other businesses will be able to open to full capacity... kind of.

According to Governor Reynolds' new proclamation in reference to a bar or restaurant,

"The establishment must ensure at least six feet of physical distance between each group or individual dining or drinking alone. Seating at booths closer than six feet may satisfy this requirement if the booths are separated by a barrier of a sufficient height to fully separate seated customers. All patrons must have a seat at a table or bar, and an establishment must limit patrons from congregating together closer than six feet."

Governor Reynolds' new proclamation in a sense allows all businesses to reopen, or remain open and not have a 50% capacity limit. But looking at the "fine print," every business small and big across Iowa, will need to follow social distancing guidelines and keep patrons 6 feet a part from other patrons. I'm going to tell you right now, that means that no business will be at 100%.

Concert and venues can "technically" open or remain open and go to 100%, but if they do that, they will be in violation with the social distancing guidelines.

According to KCRG, Governor Kim Reynolds said,

“Eliminating the capacity restrictions will allow business the flexibility to adjust their operations accordingly to best meet the needs of their customers and employees."

I'm sure many people are happy to hear the news that Iowa is reopening. I'm sure others are not. Either way, hopefully we can continue to stop the spread of the coronavirus and get our lives back to normal shortly.
