Iowa & Illinois, Check Your Pantry For These Peanut Butter Cups Now
A favorite candy brand has issued a recall on one of it's products.
If you still have Valentine's Day candy lurking around the house (can't imagine how you would but alas) or you have the sweet snacking drawer stocked, you need to know about this recall.
Russell Stover has issued a recall on it's Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups. It's these:
The Missouri-based candy maker is voluntarily recalling the Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups because of undeclared pecans because of switched packaging. The bags may contain another Russell Stover product, Sugar Free Pecan Delights.
The FDA says that it was "an error by the firm’s 3rd party co-packing company" and some of the Sugar Free Pecan Delights ended up in the Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups bags. Of course, this could pose a problem for folks who are allergic to pecans, though there haven't been any reports of sicknesses linked to the switch up. The little individual wrappers that the actual candy is in are correct though.
What's Recalled
You can find some of this stuff on the back of the bag:
- Russell Stover Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups
- packaged in 2.4 oz bag
- Best Before dates of 01MAY23 and 01JUN23
- UPC: 077260096937
- Lot Codes: K0521, K0321, K0421, L2122, L2221, L2321
If you have an affected bag, you can contact Russell Stover Chocolates for a replacement or a voucher. If you have questions, the FDA encourages you to contact Russell Stover online or via email at consumerservices@russellstover.com.
So the lesson to be learned here: when you get individually wrapped candies, it's still not a bad idea to check the little wrapper too.
