Talk about a love for students.

Robbie Erickson, track/cross country volunteer coach at Collins-Maxwell High School, is planning a bit of a jog. He has coached at the school for 2 years and they have never had a meet at home, because they don't have the equipment needed to do so.

There's no timing system at the school to capture times accurately.

Erickson told KCCI:

I want nothing more than to watch my student-athletes out there accomplish their goals, and I want the first person they look up to be wherever their family is at, wherever their loved ones are at, wherever their best friend is at, you see that connection that they make once accomplishing something they think they couldn't. It's a magical moment...We want to be able to showcase what our student-athletes are working so hard on. And it comes to a point where we can't do that without having a timing system in play

So Coach Erickson is stepping in. In March, he will run 276 miles from Muscatine to Omaha, a feat he is hoping to accomplish in under 4 days. He will run along Highway 92, with a goal of breaking the record. Of course a lot of training is going into his preparation for this, from dieting to running in different settings.

The timing system will cost about $30,000. If you'd like to donate to help, you can do that here. All donations are going towards helping the track team get the timing system and any leftovers will go to the booster club.
