Luckily there are plenty of places for us to get good food.

USA Today has released their latest list for 'Best Restaurants In 2026'. The list looks at restaurants across the country and narrows it down from there.

They are chosen by the USA Today food journalists who "know their local scenes best". The list reflects not only good food but community involvement as well. 2 Iowa places made the latest list.

Prime & Providence (West Des Moines)

Located on S. 60th Street in West Des Moines, Prime & Providence is a really nice steakhouse and oyster bar.

USA Today's writer recommends their Caesar salad and dishes cooked on their custom-designed 15-foot hearth using Fogo charcoal. They're also know for their Wagyu steaks and rolled lasagnas.

It opened in May 2024 from chef/co-owner Dominic Iannarelli. The review describes the ambiance as warm and elegant, with statement lighting, a wine wall, and liquor lockers.

Whatcha Smokin? BBQ + Brew (Luther)

Whatcha Smokin? is a central Texas-style restaurant on Iowa Ave. in Luther. USA Today's writer recommends lining up early at the restaurant to try their fall-apart tender brisket.

They also have burnt ends cubed for weekly specials and pulled pork that's dry-rubbed with 5 spices and smoked for 12-14 hours. All of it is smoked in-house with red oak and white oak wood in a Moberg smoker, according to the review.

Traveling this summer? Want some good local food? Luckily it's a long list. You can see the full list of restaurants being recognized on USA Today's website.
