Canadian Man Facing Charges After Farting On Not One, But Two Police Officers
A Canadian man told a judge on Wednesday that he feels bad for sticking his butt on two Mounties during his arrest last summer and letting a few farts loose on the two of them.
"It's embarrassing," he told the judge.
38-year-old Jeremy Robert Weldon was in a provincial court in Moncton for sentencing in a case he was pleading guilty to, where he was charged with possessing stolen property, fleeing police in a vehicle, driving with a suspended licence, and assaulting police officers.
The original incident happened on August 5th of last year, when a university student was moving into an apartment and bringing things from his truck to the apartment, but had left the keys in the vehicle. When he came out, the truck was gone.
Police spotted the truck in the area, with two men inside, with Weldon behind the wheel. When officers stopped them, they approached the vehicle on foot, and Weldon reversed and sped away from the officers, straight through a field in an attempt to escape.
Of course, the truck got stuck in the field, and the two men ran. Weldon surrendered when the Mountie chasing him drew his taser.
Prosecutor Sara Scaletta said when officers were walking Weldon back to the police vehicle, he backed up into the hip/groin area of the officer and farted on him. “There’s a present for you," he said as he did so.
He did the same thing to a second Mountie and said, “And another for you.”
Weldon didn't agree that's what happened when it was first brought up in court. “I didn’t put my butt against him, but I was drunk and stupid, and I apologize,” he said.
The Judge then pointed out that he'd already admitted to the ASSault and agreed with the prosecutor's recount of the incident.
The prosecutor described the assault as "unique," and the judge agreed, saying it was "unusual."
“It’s certainly a disgusting type of assault on those police officers,” she said.
“You realize what you did was more childish than anything else,” she said of the assaults, to which Weldon agreed.
