MidAmerican investigated, and that's when the Des Moines Police and Fire Department were called to a power substation around 6:30am. MidAmerican told authorities there was an injured tresspasser in the fencing of the substation.

When medical personnel showed up, they checked the guy out, who had burn injuries covering 20% of his body, worked on him a bit, and then the authorities transported the guy to a Des Moines hospital to be treated.

Des Moines Police say the preliminary investigation found that the man climbed into the substation and damaged equipment, leading to the outage.

MidAmerican crews got to work on the power outage, and after they got it fixed, all downtown customers had power again by 8:30 am.
