Lake City, Florida

At 5 AM Friday morning, police officers in Lake City received an alarm from a bank and rushed to the scene. However, what they discovered was nothing short of unbelievable – the ATM near the drive-thru of Ameris Bank had been yanked out from its foundation, leaving a trail of drag marks through the parking lot and grass.

The drama didn't end there. Just a few minutes later, another officer spotted a white utility truck making its way north on NW Bascom Norris Drive, dragging the stolen ATM behind it.

It was a sight to behold, almost as if the thieves wanted to make a daring escape in the most unconventional way possible.

Attempting The Catch

The officer attempted to pull over the truck. However, the two individuals inside were not ready to face the consequences of their actions. They abandoned the stolen truck and disappeared into the nearby woods, leaving the ATM abandoned on the road.

The truck used in the attempted heist had also been stolen. It seems like these individuals had a flair for the dramatic and had planned the perfect getaway, only to have it all unravel in the face of determined law enforcement.

All Hands On Deck

The Lake City Police Department wasted no time in assembling a team of experts to bring the culprits to justice. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Baker Correctional Institution’s K-9 Unit, the Florida Highway Patrol’s Drone Unit, and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Air Unit all joined forces in the manhunt.

The elusive duo has managed to evade capture so far. Undeterred, FBI agents have been called in to meticulously process the evidence left behind at the scene.

Help Search For Suspects

In the midst of this audacious crime, the Lake City Police Department is urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in their investigation. They encourage anyone with knowledge of the theft to contact them immediately at 386-752-4343 and speak with Sgt. Kevin Johns. The police are counting on the community's help to solve this puzzling case.
