Go Check Out This Olympic-Sized Ski Jump Just A Couple Hours From The QC
In Westby, Wisconsin, there's an annual ski jumping tournament that happened over this past weekend.
Michaels stopped by just after it ended just to get an idea of how big the jump is, because you can see it from 2 miles away.
It's hosted at the Snowflake Ski Club, where they have six jumps in total, with one of them being a 118-meter (387ish feet) Olympic-sized hill used for national and international competitions.
Look at the size of this thing.
And just like a kid going down the hill at the park, the worst part is walking back up to the top.
They have 65, 40, 20, 10, and 5-meter hills as well, so people of any level can train there.
Here's video from one of the winners of the tournament, jumping down the ramp.
If you want to go to this jump tournament, you can go for a pretty good deal. For just $20, you get a button to put on your coat, and it'll give you access for the whole weekend.
Check out the website for Snowflake Ski Club for more info. They've been there jumping since 1922. It's just a three-hour drive from the Quad Cities.
