Spirit Halloween’s Secret Holiday Plan Revealed—Spirit Christmas
Spirit Halloween Expands Into the Holiday Season with New 'Spirit Christmas' Stores
Spirit Halloween is extending its operations beyond Halloween with the introduction of “Spirit Christmas,” keeping select stores open through the holiday season. A company spokesperson confirmed the launch of 10 holiday-themed stores across the Northeast. This marks the first time Spirit Halloween will venture into the Christmas retail market, a shift from its usual strategy of operating only during the spooky season.
Where Will The Spirit Christmas Stores Be?
Instead of occupying empty storefronts only for Halloween, Spirit Christmas stores will remain open through the end of the year, offering festive products and experiences.
The 10 Spirit Christmas locations will serve as a trial run for the concept, and their success will determine whether the company expands the initiative in future years. Spirit Halloween hopes to replicate the immersive experience it offers during Halloween for the Christmas season, adding a unique twist to traditional holiday shopping.
The flagship Spirit Christmas store will open in:
- Mays Landing, N.J
- Waterford, CT
- Brick Township, NJ
- Albany, NY
- Poughkeepsie, NY
- Erie, PA
- Bohemia, NY
- Woodbridge, NJ
- Marlton, NJ
- Dartmouth, MA
Why Are They Making Spirit Christmas?
“Spirit Christmas is a new concept for us, and we’re hopeful it will resonate with our customers,” a spokesperson for Spirit Halloween said. “Our goal is to create a festive retail experience that captures the spirit of the season, much like we do for Halloween.”
Each Spirit Christmas store will feature holiday inflatables, decorations, and immersive experiences designed to bring the magic of the season to life. In addition to the usual holiday fare like stockings, lights, and ornaments, customers will enjoy activities such as photos with a real-life Santa and letter writing to the North Pole. However, not every store will offer the same range of experiences, providing a unique spin depending on location.
Can Spirit Halloween Sucessfully Operate A Christmas Store?
The decision to open Spirit Christmas stores comes as the company tests whether it can successfully tap into the lucrative holiday retail market. According to the National Retail Federation, holiday spending reached $964.4 billion in 2023, an increase of 3.8% from the previous year. While promising, competition is fierce, especially with e-commerce giants like Amazon ramping up holiday preparations—Amazon has announced plans to hire 250,000 seasonal workers, mirroring last year's numbers.
Deloitte projects that holiday retail sales will increase by 2.3% to 3.3% in 2024, with e-commerce expected to see a higher growth rate of 7% to 9%. This could pose a challenge for Spirit Christmas, as the stores will focus on in-person retail and won’t offer an online shopping option. Additionally, factors like the upcoming presidential election in November and a volatile hurricane season could affect consumer behavior.
As Spirit Christmas opens its doors, the company will see if its brand can inspire the same loyalty and excitement for the holidays that it has long cultivated for Halloween.
