This incident recently happened in Elmhurst. A Palatine man was arrested at the major intersection of North Avenue and Route 83. This guy must have been day drinking because he was wasted before the sun even went down. He was busted for drunk driving. I understand that doesn't sound out of the ordinary but wait, the story gets better.

Let's continue with his other offenses. His vehicle wasn't insured. The suspect was stoned and had some weed which was not the legal in Illinois kind. The man also was holding a concealed gun while intoxicated which led to the charge of unlawful use of a weapon. Don't worry, there's more.

On top of all the other stuff, he was also arrested for impersonating a police officer. Not sure how this drunk dude thought he was going to be able to pull this off while wasted but of course, he didn't get away with it. Sounds like he's going to spend some time behind bars pretending to be a prison inmate.

William Owens, 37, of Palatine, was arrested about 4 p.m. at North Avenue and Route 83 on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, attempted impersonation of a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated, DUI, possession of marijuana by a driver and driving an uninsured car.
