The family and friends of shooting victim Kalista Rae Hallberg, 37, have started a GoFundMe for funeral expenses for Kalista and to raise money for her two children, who lost their mother when an ongoing domestic dispute erupted at the Hy-Vee in Muscatine.

On Monday, June 30, Kalista was shot by her ex and was pronounced dead at the scene.  On Tuesday, July 1, the suspect died at the University of Iowa hospital, a day after he was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Now, friends and family are mourning Kalista and raising money for funeral arrangements and her children.

The GoFundMe was started by her boyfriend, Robert Moore.  Robert says in the GoFundMe page, "In this darkest hour, we are asking for help to give Kalista the send off she deserves. Anything helps and is much appreciated. If you knew Kali, you know she never asked for help. Ever. Anything above and beyond funeral arrangements will be put into a trust for her children to help give them a brighter future."

Kalista's friends on Facebook shared great memories and stories while dealing with the shock and grief of her life tragically taken.  All expressed joy in knowing her and the kind of mother she was.

Kalista spent 14 years in an abusive relationship.  Having broken free, she and her family, and her new family, found peace and joy with each other.

The GoFundMe says, "Kalista was not only a wonderful mother to John and Lillian, she stepped into being such a positive parent to my son Caleb as well. She was the brightest light in the darkest times for us all."

"She was happiest in pink and glitter. Happiest when she knew the ones she loved were safe and at home. Her smile lit up the night sky. She was breathtaking and her soul even more."
You can help Kalista's family and children by supporting the GoFundMe here.

What The Quad Cities Did For Fun in the 90's

Many times over the years, I'll be talking with friends about years gone by and I'll say "take me back".

Every generation goes through this, I assume. Looking back at a more simple time where responsibilities haven't set in and life seems fun. Opportunities are endless.

Let's go back to the 1990's to Wacky Waters, 50 Cent Beer night and revisit Mallards Mania!
