The spirit of Jamaica is heading to the riverfront this March. Julian “Junior” Marvin, the legendary guitarist who stood side-by-side with Bob Marley, is set to headline an unforgettable night of music. It’s time to get together and feel alright, because this lineup is definitely "stirring it up."

A Choice Between Icons

Junior Marvin’s career hit a high note on February 14, 1977. In a move that would make any musician’s head spin, he was invited to join both Stevie Wonder’s band and Bob Marley & The Wailers on the very same day.

Junior ultimately chose his Jamaican roots. "His parents and musician friends helped him decide to accept Bob Marley’s invitation because they were both Jamaicans. The rest is history." That history includes the iconic Exodus LP, which Time Magazine crowned "The Album Of The Century."

Keeping the Legend Alive

After Bob Marley’s passing in 1981, Junior continued to carry the torch. Now fronting his own version of the band, he aims to keep the authenticity of the music intact, "playing and singing Bob Marley & the Wailers hit songs the way Bob intended them to be heard."

Local Flavors and Funky Beats

The night kicks off with The Textures, known for their "original, funky, fun, soulful tunes to dance to." Adding a local twist is Lady Igraine, a Davenport-based group described as a "genre-bending whirling dervish of progressive rock." With "dueling guitarmonies and fusion funk backbeats," they’ll ensure the crowd is properly tuned up.
