A Midwest Nice Conversation With Charlie Berens
Midwest Nice comedy is coming to the Adler Theatre on March 8. Before Charlie Berens brings all the "opes" and "yeah der heys" to town, I had a chance to chat with him about the show, his online skits, and a little football.
With the show on the way, you'll want to get your tickets now here.
Charlie Berens is coming to the Adler Theatre in Davenport on March 8
We here in the Quad Cities understand what Midwest Nice is all about. But I asked Charlie what it's like when he does a show in places like Boston. "They usually kind of get it to an extent. It's from a Midwest guy's perspective."
He says at the end of it, no matter where he is, he sets things up to have fun with the show, which will reflect, but not be the same as what you have seen online.
I asked Charlie what people recognize him from, "The Manitowac Minute or the Husbands of Target video. It kind of varies depending on where we are. I started off doing stand-up, so any time I can get someone to come out to a stand-up show, that is my favorite way of doing comedy."
Watch Carlie's Standup Special For Free on YouTube
Before you see Charlie, you can see him for free on YouTube. "My standup special is totally free. I would have put it on a streamer, but my dad wasn't going to pay for it. If I can't even get my dad to pay for it, how can I expect anyone else? So I just put it on the YouTube channel." You can watch that full thing here.
- We also talked a bit of football...don't be mad at him for his choice in teams.
- About how he used his platform to make sure the community knew about a data center moving in.
- His interview with Wolverine, Hugh Jackman, and how Hugh taught him to speak Australian.
- And of course, a courteous Midwest Goodbye.
