Illinois Woman Accused Of Beating Roommate With Box Of Wine

Not every weapon is going to be the classiest.

If you're in a bad physical fight, you may tend to reach for whatever's closest to fight. So seems to be the case for one woman in Joliet.

According to Patch, the situation had a few layers on it.

First, deputies from the Will County Sheriff's Office responded to the 1720-block of Parkwood Lane in response to an argument where a man was allegedly throwing things, though none of it hit his roommate, Leanna Carpenter. She was the one that made the 911 call and claimed that her roommate had been drinking all day and that affects his behavior.

But officers didn't see anything in the place that would indicate something was thrown.

The argument between Carpenter and her roommate happened when they were arguing about his daughter's sexuality. Carpenter refused to leave the house. The roommate didn't either and said he was going to have a sandwich and go to bed. After the deputy left, then came part 2 of the situation.

In part 2, the sheriff's office was again called out to the residence. This one got violent.

Officers found the man sitting in their garage, blood on his left hand, forearm, ear, and the corner of his mouth. He said that after officers left, Carpenter went out to the garage to get her box of wine. Once she was there, she hit him in the face with it, knocking him off the chair he was sitting on. Then Carpenter got on top of him, kept hitting him with the wine, and even bit him.

She was booked in jail for a few days in July. She has been court-ordered to stay away from the man, the house, and must maintain "absolute sobriety" from now on.
