Aren't we having such fun with winter already?

Hope you're hanging in there okay. These sunsets at like 4:00 p.m. are the worst, and for a lot of us, they just tank our productivity.

The countdown has already started to the days of later sunsets and we have the exact date you should circle on your calendar.

According to Time & Date, Davenport will see a sunset after 7:00 p.m. on March 8th (due to the time change) but on April 30th, the sun will set at 7:59 p.m. (so 7:00 p.m. current time).

Meanwhile, the earliest the sunset will be this winter will be December 7th or 8th (at 4:32 p.m. both days) but really, the early sunsets will go from late November-Christmas Day, when the sun will still set around 4:30 p.m. every day. Which tracks since the shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice, is on Sunday, December 21st at 9:03 a.m. The day is 6 hours, 1 minute shorter than the Summer Solstice in June.

The good news with earlier sunsets though is that sunrises are getting later. In early December when sunsets will be around 4:30 p.m., sunrises will be close to 7:30 a.m. Maybe that can help you sleep in a bit more? Or give you a better excuse for being late to work?

We're all ready for spring and summer sun but there's still a minute to go. You can keep track of the forecast based on where you're at and count down the days until we have more sun at Time & Date's website.
