The town of Long Grove, IA is gearing up for a full weekend of events happening this upcoming weekend. Three family fun events will take place in the small town just north of Eldridge this Saturday and Sunday. These events will have something for everyone including live music, food, races, and strawberries.

Long Grove, IA is going to be a very busy small town this weekend. There are three family fun events taking place this weekend in the small town and there will be something for everyone. One event will be taking place this Saturday, June 11th, and the other two will take place the day after on Sunday, June 12th.

The 1st Annual Main Block Extravaganza

The first event happening in the small town of Long Grove this weekend is The Main Block Extravaganza. This is the first year of the event but according to its Facebook event, the event organizers are carrying on the tradition that The Grove Tap began years ago. The Grove Tap closed its doors back in January of this year.

The Main Block Extravaganza is taking place this Saturday, June 11th, starting at 3 p.m. This event will take place on the corner of Main and 1st Streets in Long Grove.

The Main Block Extravaganza will have food vendors including Cabos Cantina & Grill in Eldridge and the Double D Diner in Davenport. Cabos will be serving tacos, margaritas, and other delicious items. Double D Diner will be serving fair food items like corndogs and lemonade shakeups. Alcohol will be available for purchase throughout the event as well.

Live music will also be at The Main Block Extravaganza. Angela Meyer will take the stage Saturday at 3 p.m. with Outpatience following at 7 p.m. The Main Block Extravaganza is going to keep the party going until midnight.

38th Annual Strawberry Stampede

The second event taking place in Long Grove this weekend is the 38th annual Strawberry Stampede. Founded in 1985, this youth road race sees hundreds of youth runners every year, ages 0-14, run through the town of Long Grove.

According to its Facebook page, the Strawberry Stampede begins this Sunday, June 12th with the girl's competitive run/walk 1/4 mile race at 9 a.m. The boy's competitive run/walk 1/4 mile race begins at 9:15 a.m. The 1-mile competitive run/walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes both genders.

The 3rd annual Family 1-mile fun run/walk begins at 9:31 a.m., 1 minute after the start of the 1-mile youth race.

Post-race festivities include refreshments and the awarding of door prizes and trophies.

If your kids want to register, they can do so the day of at the price of $30 for all races. A t-shirt will not be guaranteed.

Long Grove Strawberry Festival

The Strawberry Festival begins with coffee and donuts in front of the community building and waffles at the food court at 7 a.m. on Sunday, June 12th. Many other events are happening throughout the morning on Sunday, but it leads up to the Long Grove Strawberry Festival parade which begins at 11:15 a.m.
