Lonely? Iowa Now Has A Professional Cuddler To Keep You Company
Does the idea of a complete stranger snuggling up to you freak you out? Then this service probably isn't for you.
WQAD reports that Iowa's only "certified cuddler" has a business in the Des Moines area. Michelle White refers to herself as a "platonic touch practioner."
Essentially, White gets paid to cuddle and comfort her clients, who range in age from 20 to 70 years old. Some clients are on the autism spectrum or suffer from chronic illness, while others just crave personal touch. The cuddle session is customized to each client, so that everyone is comfortable with the experience.
Hodges is actually certified in cuddling, after attending a training in Colorado.
It makes sense that cuddling would be therapeutic for many people, in the same way that massage is. We all know that touch can be very healing. But a stranger cuddling up to me? Not sure I could ever bring myself to do that.
