You know what a "Viking Funeral" is, right?  It's where a person's remains are set on fire outside and maybe sent off to sea.  Well, they are possibly legalizing this type of send off in Maine.

The first thing that comes to mind is Dave Brockie from GWAR.  While he himself didn't go out this way...his costume/alter ego Oderus Urungus were sent ablaze with family and friends cheering as an archer sent a flaming arrow into the middle of a pond.

But that was just a costume.  You can't actually perform an open air cremation anywhere.  Except in a couple spots on Colorado but they only allow 12 of those a year. Apparently the only requirements are you'd have to do them through nonprofits that have at least 20 acres of space.

I guess they want so much space because you want to make sure your next door neighbor isn't smelling barbeque and realize...nope, that's just Harold!

Gonna kill the summer outdoor vibes for sure.

I'm not sure which is cooler.  A Viking funeral or what Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead did.  He had his ashes put into bullets and gave them to close friends and family.
