Man Arrested For Murder In Connection With Deadly Apartment Fire In Clinton
The Clinton Police Department has arrested a man who they believe is responsible for a fire at an apartment that killed one person. The fire took place last Saturday, March 26th. The man was arrested on Wednesday for first-degree murder and first-degree arson.
In a social media post on Wednesday, the Clinton Police Department announced that they have made an arrest in connection with a fire that kill one person.
According to the social media post, Clinton Police officials say that on Saturday, March 26, the Clinton Fire Department and the Clinton Police Department responded to a 911 call about a structure fire inside an apartment building at 78 31st Ave North. When emergency crews arrived, officials say their attention was drawn to Apartment N and the Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire.
After the fire was extinguished, officials say a deceased individual was found inside the apartment. The deceased individual was identified as 41-year-old Dustin Christopher Doran, formerly of Newton, IA.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Clinton Police Department, Clinton Fire Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and others launched a criminal investigation.
On Monday, March 28, 2022, an autopsy was performed by the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner who ruled Doran's death a Homicide, according to officials.
On Wednesday, March 30, the Clinton Police, along with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, arrested Trevor Allan Jeorge Ward in connection with the fire.
Jeorge was arrested and is facing charges of murder and arson, both in the first degree, according to the social media post.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
