The game is on, geese.

Whoever came up with the phrase 'silly goose' clearly never met a goose. They are anything but silly. They're mean, aggressive, and wholly stinky. They invade multiple areas of town, like streets, ponds, anywhere near water, and of course, local parks.

After multiple geese grievances, the Moline Parks and Recreation Department has rolled out a new gadget to help fight the goose invasion.

Meet the 'Goosinator':

The remote-controlled Goosinator is designed (obviously) to help chase geese away from busy public areas, like Riverside Park and Ben Butterworth Parkway.

The department says that by using something to help deter geese, it's keeping these spaces "cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for all users".

Moline Director of Parks and Recreation Eric Griffith told WHBF that the geese think of it like a coyote and it makes them nervous and want to run off. It was developed at Cornell University.

Officials say it's a humane method to fix the problem, as the robot doesn't hurt the geese and stays about 20 feet away from them at all times. But even just getting one goose's attention can make the whole group fly off.

Griffith also clarified that Moline did not use taxpayer dollars to get the Goosinator, but rather paid for it with a nonprofit investment from the State of Illinois.

A better question for this situation: is there a job opening for the position to remote-control a goose deterrant machine all day? Because that's the kind of skill set I have.
