Christmas is right around the corner and presents are being purchased left and right. There are so many great gifts to give this year, but Iowans and Illinoisans are going to be giving these gifts more than any other state, and they aren't that exciting.

If you haven't purchased all of your presents for Christmas yet, the good news is that you still have some time. If you're still struggling to find gifts for people, you could just purchase the your states most commonly purchased Christmas gift.

SPOILER ALERT: If you're also wondering what gift you most likely will receive this year, we are going to ruin that surprise for you.

A new study has come out from our friends at Zippia where they found each states most purchased Christmas gift will be this year. To do so, Zippia used used Google Trends to determined the potential Christmas gift each state searched for more than any other states. They searched hundreds of terms ranging from gift cards to restaurants and stores, popular tech, kitchen goods, stocking stuffers, and more.

They looked at searches ranging from November 11th, 2020 to December 7th, 2020, giving them a decent amount of the holiday shopping season to examine.

Here are some key facts they found in their results:

  • 18 states have a gift card as their most sought after gift.
  • 11 states are buying technology gifts.
  • The PS5 is one of the most popular gifts, but people in Delaware want it the most.
    • Wyoming is buying the PS4 instead.
  • Amazon gift cards, another popular 2020 gift, is the most wanted by people in Maine.
  • Parents in Connecticut are buying their babies ugg boots this year.

What are Iowans and Illinoisans purchasing the most of this year as Christmas presents? Let's find out.

When it comes to Iowa and Illinois, the most purchased gift in each of those states are kind of boring.

Zippia found that Iowans will be purchasing gift cards to Barnes and Noble more than any other state this year, That's great news for book readers!

Illinoisans are purchasing grocery store gift cards more than any other state according to Zippia. As I've gotten old, a gift card to the grocery store actually sounds amazing.

Good luck last minute Christmas shopping!
