The City of Davenport has put on a great 2022 Movies on the Mississippi series. We've been able to watch great family films outside in LeClaire Park all summer and into the fall. This Friday will be the final film of this year's series and with Halloween getting close, Friday's featured film is a Disney classic that just recently came out with a sequel.

What Are Movies On The Mississippi?

If you don't know by now, Movies on the Mississippi is hosted by the City of Davenport and the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department. It's a movie series held at LeClaire Park in downtown Davenport. Throughout the summer and into early fall, residents in Davenport have been able to enjoy great family-friendly films outside with the Mississippi River as the backdrop.

The first four films that played this year included Jumanji, The Sandlot, Frozen, and CARS. The final Movies on the Mississippi will be tomorrow night, Friday, October 7th (weather pending), and will feature a Halloween classic

The featured film playing this Friday at the final Movies on the Mississippi is a Disney and Halloween classic. This film was released in 1993 and became a must-watch movie every single Halloween. Starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, Friday's Movies on the Mississippi featured film will make you look up towards the sky for three sisters riding brooms.

After moving to Salem, Massachusetts, teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house.

Now, with the help of a magical cat (Jason Marsden as Binx in cat form), the kids must steal the witches' book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.

How Much Does It Cost To Watch The Movie & When Does It Start?

There is absolutely no cost to attend Movies on the Mississippi. This is a free, family-friendly event. All you need to do is bring your family, friends, a blanket, warm clothing, and smiles to LeClaire Park.

Friday's festivities begin at 6 p.m. with food trucks and a pre-movie monster mash! The featured film begins shortly after 7 p.m.

What Will The Weather Be Like Friday In Davenport?

Besides your awesome costumes, we suggest you bring some really warm clothes on Friday. Highs will be in the mid to low 50s, but as the sun goes down, things will begin to cool off a lot, especially so close to the Mississippi River.
