Unfortunately, getting laid off has become as American as apple pie.

In 2004, Bruce Schafman didn't let losing his job at the meat counter at the old Eagle store in Milan deter him. He opened up his own meat market right behind the old Eagle, and put some of his fellow meat counter employees to work at the new Meatheads.

Meatheads has been a success from opening day.

Now, Bruce and his wife Lisa have expanded with the opening of a new store at 2503 53rd Avenue in Bettendorf. The new location will have all the same stuff folks love about the existing Milan store, with the addition of a food truck.

They had me at food truck.

Check out the new Meatheads and support a local business owner who didn't let a layoff deter him.
