The Closures

On Thursday, officials from the I-74 River Bridge announced via a press release that on Friday, September 24, the old I-74 bridge to Illinois will be temporarily closed from approx 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The old I-74 bridge will be closed for that 3-hour window for sweeping and debris removal.

Officials also announced that the old I-74 bridge heading Illinois-bound/eastbound will be closed on Sunday, September 26 due to the Quad Cities Marathon. the old I-74 bridge will be closed from approximately 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

On Sunday, there will also be heavy congestion on Grant St and State St in Bettendorf during the event, according to officials.

Detours/Alternate Route

On Friday, motorists needing to head Illinois-bound/eastbound can access the new bridge by taking the Iowa-bound I-74 on-ramp at Grant St, exit at Middle Rd, turn left, and then left again to take the Illinois-bound on-ramp.

On Sunday, motorists can access I-74 by using the on-ramps at Middle Road.
