Background

A Mississippi lawmaker wants teachers to begin issuing parental report cards that grade parents on three things

  1. How well they communicate with teachers
  2. How often their children complete homework assignments
  3. How many times their kids are absent or late for school

More info:

Lawmakers say the report cards will improve parenting skills. The report cards will be issued during parent-teacher conferences.

Teachers are split over whether or not they like the idea. Many parents are outraged and say the report card idea is ridiculous.

  • Would it improve parenting?
  • What should happen if the parents were to "Fail?"
