Parts of Iowa Are Expecting Snow This Weekend

It's always a possibility living in the Midwest.

The Sioux City Journal reports that Northwestern Nebraska is getting hit with a big winter storm this weekend, and the snow may find its way to Iowa as well.

Forecasters say a wintry storm system could drop up to 10 inches of snow on northwest Nebraska later this week. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the northern half of the Panhandle. The service says ice could form on wet pavement late Wednesday night or early Thursday as the system arrives, followed by snow and winds gusting to 35 mph. Travel could be extremely hazardous.

This wintry system is expected to move east by the weekend and will potentially dump snow on Northeast Nebraska and Northwest and Northern Iowa by Friday and Saturday.

While the snow most likely won't reach the QC, be careful if you plan on traveling west this weekend.

Additionally, low temps will be well below freezing for both states, with windchills in the 20s by the weekend. Buckle up, folks. Wintry weather is only just beginning.
