Patients Upset After QC Medical Spa Closes Suddenly
A Davenport medical spa and its doctor are under fire after it closed suddenly last week.
The Medical Aesthetics and Wellness Center, a spa offering cosmetic services like laser hair removal and botox, shuttered its doors without warning on Thursday. Patients received an email and a sign was placed on the front door of the Utica Ridge business stating they were closed effective immediately.
According to Local News 4, one patient named Becky lost out on almost $7000 on payments made for cool sculpting services. Becky never received the treatments since the office kept postponing her appointment. She has no idea who to contact about receiving a refund.
Paul Bolger, a doctor at the spa, pled guilty to making 20 false statements and misbranding drugs in 2016 and 2017, but was released prior to his trial with conditions. WQAD reports that Bolger was taken into custody recently for violating the terms of his release. The charges took place in Burlington and Iowa City, so it's unclear if the violations caused the clinic's sudden shutdown. He now faces up to 5 years in prison for the false statements and 1 year for misbranding.
