POLL: When Is It Okay To Start Playing Christmas Music?
You're probably starting to read this and thinking to yourself one of two thoughts, depending on who you are. You're either a psycho and thinking "OMG Christmas is right around the corner!" Or you're a normal person and you're thinking, "Connor, it's not even f****n' Halloween yet."
Well, the reason for this poll is because on the 27th of October, in the year of our Lord 2020, I heard Christmas music. That's way too early in my Scrooge-ish opinion.Don't get me wrong, I love the holiday season. The only thing I despise about the holidays is that means cold and snow in the Quad Cities. If I could celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years in the Dominican Republic, the holiday season would be my fave.
With Halloween being this weekend, I normally expect stores, restaurants and other businesses to be decorated for the first holiday of the holiday season. Sure, Walmart, Target, and many other big box stores have their Christmas stuff put out. It happens every year and we've come to except it. But on Tuesday evening, my wife and I ran some errands which included stopping at DSW so she could buy and return some shoes.
Let me be clear, I'm not hating on DSW by any means. I'm hating on the overly Christmas loving weirdo who is making them play Christmas music before literally the 2 holidays before Christmas. Why not sprinkle in some fun Halloween songs? Thriller? Monster Mash? These Boots Were Made For Walkin'? Okay that's not Halloween theme but you get it because of shoes and it's DSW and yeah....
Of course,I had to send out to my friends and family on Snapchat how ridiculous this was.
I even Googled when it's okay to start playing Christmas music. Our sister station, Taste of Country Nights, found that most people say "After Thanksgiving" which I totally agree with!
But, we want to know what you think. Take one or both of our polls below to let us know when you think it's appropriate to start playing Christmas music.
Make sure you have holly, jolly, HALLOWEEN BECAUSE THAT COMES FIRST!
