A familiar face to many of us in the Quad Cities is fondly remembered today.

I grew up watching Charles King on the news. I job shadowed at KWQC during high school and remember him well. He was kind and encouraging but also, from the perspective of a 16 year-old, he took his job seriously. I distinctly remember the intense concentration in his eyes as he worked and that glorious, deep voice.

According to KWQC.com,

King died early this morning at the age of 80 in the Denver, CO. area. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Charles King was an icon for many, especially in media. He will be greatly missed.
