Quad City Channel Cat Set To Open 2022 Season This Weekend

Summer is coming, and that means it's time for all the fun outdoor activities in the Quad Cities to make their comeback as well.

One of the most classic ways to spend your day is to spend it on the river. But why not combine that with some shopping, lunch, and maybe a drink or two? That's why the Quad Cities has the QC Channel Cat.

The QC Channel Cat has been a shuttle for people to get from the Iowa side of the river to Illinois since 1995 when River Action, a local non-profit dedicated to the riverfront, received a $25,000 grant from the Riverboat Development Authority.

The Channel Cats are now the iconic open air, 47 foot, 24 net ton military transport barges with room for 49 passengers and 7 bicycles.

The 2022 Channel Cat Season is upon us. According to the QC Channel Cat's Facebook page, we're looking at the end of the month of May as the start date for a great river experience.

Tomorrow, also known as Friday, May 27th, the Channel Cat will open for the first day of the 2022 season.

You can get your tickets upon boarding the Channel Cat, through the Channel Cat Mobile Ticketing app, or at the Centre Station in Moline.
