Quad City Landmark Comes Down
I've only been on the bridge connecting Savanna and Sabula once. I remember being terrified because it was so narrow.
According to KWQC, today was the day that skyline changed. The old bridge was demolished making way for a new bridge.
The bridge was constructed 86 years ago. During spells of freezing rain since ice would build up on the steel and had an open-grate deck that allowed crossers to peer down into the water below, which could be a problem. Demolition took place at about 10:30pm.
